Greetings Warren Band Students and Parents,
Here are some updates and reminders for the week of Sept 19, 2016:
1) Fill The Drum Charity Event / Senior Recognition Night / Festival of Marching Bands (Completed)
Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our bands last Wednesday (Sept 14), along with this year's cause (Orphans of the Storm animal shelter in Deerfield, IL). We collected just over $3000 in donations, along with 2 full cart loads of animal items, including food and toys!
2) Halftime Performance at WTHS Home Football Game (Completed)
Last Friday (Sept 16), our marching band performed during halftime at the home football game. The band show keeps getting better! Thanks to all the parent volunteers who help make everything happen!
3) First Marching Band Competition - Chicagoland Marching Band Festival (Completed)
Last Saturday (Sept 17), our marching band performed in competition and had their best performance so far this year. Congratulations to our color guard, who placed 2nd, and our entire marching band, who placed 3rd overall (out of 6 bands competing in our class)! This is a great start to our marching band competition season. If you keep working hard and marching proud, we can improve and win some more awards for our efforts!
4) Wednesday Night Band Practice (Tomorrow - Sept 21)
Time: 6 to 9 PM
Location: WTHS O’Plaine campus
5) Second Marching Band Competition - Naperville Central Marching Classic (All Day Sept 24- This Saturday)
Date: This Saturday (Sept 24)
Schedule: Marching band schedule and competition schedule
Location: Benedictine University (Lisle, IL)
Good luck to all and have a great performance!
6) Two Additional Bus Chaperone Volunteers Needed
We are in need of 2 additional parent volunteers for bus chaperoning duty, starting to/from this Saturday's (Sept 24) competition. If you are interested and available, please contact Greg Johnson ASAP at email@example.com.
7) Additional Uniform Volunteers Needed!
We are also in need of additional parent volunteers to help with the marching band uniforms (especially at competitions) and other tasks, starting right away. For clarification, any parent volunteer can help, even if they are not bus chaperones. If you are not riding a bus, please join us after you arrive at the competition and we will welcome you with open arms. We need everyone to help our 300 band students get into their uniforms quickly and efficiently! If you are interested and available, please contact Valerie Tamburrino ASAP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Go Blue Devils!!
