2019 Warren Marching Bands
2019 MARCHING BLUE DEVILS BAND
2 BANDS, 2 SHOWS, EVERYONE PERFORMS AT EVERY GAME!
Students will choose or audition to be placed in the competition band or the non-competition band. As
in the past, each student will again perform at every game, no matter which band they perform with.
The competition marching band is comprised of members of the two Symphonic Bands, along with some
juniors and seniors from the Almond Concert Band who have an interest in participating. This group,
called the Blue Devil Competition Band, will prepare a competitive-style show and practice each day 8th
period at the Almond campus, on Wednesday nights in the fall and attend 4 contests.
The non-competition, called the Marching Blue Devils, practice during their band classes but do not
practice on Wednesday nights in the fall nor do they attend weekend contests.
An exciting change for this year is that we will be preparing 2 marching bands with 2 different shows.
Just as the competition band learns their competition show to be performed at some of the halftimes,
the non-competition band will learn a different, less complex show that will be performed at select other
halftimes. No matter what band a student is placed in, each student will still perform at each game;
some games will feature the non-comp band show (with comp students playing in an arc behind) while
other games will feature the comp band show (with non-comp students playing in an arc behind). In addition to being featured at select games, each band will perform its shows in its entirety at the Fill-the-
Drum Showcase. Band members will also perform together at the Gurnee Days parade and the Homecoming parade.
