Greetings Warren Band Students and Parents,
Here are some updates and reminders for the week of March 13, 2017 (Please make sure you read all items so nothing is missed): 1) Spring Band Concerts (Important Reminders) The Spring Band Concerts start at 7 PM this Wed/Thu (Mar 15/16) in the O'Plaine Auditorium, as follows: - Wednesday, March 15 - O'Plaine Bands (Concert Band II O'Plaine, Concert Band I O'Plaine) - Thursday, March 16 - Almond Bands (Concert Band I Almond, Symphonic Band II, Symphonic Band I) Seniors - We are taking your end-of-the-year concert program photos this Thursday starting at 6:30 P, so please plan on arriving before 6:30 P and look for us near the choir room. 2) Mundelein Jazz Fest Competition (Completed) Last Saturday (Mar 11), our Jazz Ensemble competed at Mundelein High School (Mundelein, IL). Our ensemble were named Grand Champion at the Mundelein Invitational. Soloists, Connor Mannebach and Eric DeLaCruz, were recognized as outstanding musicians. In addition, Connor Mannebach took one of the three outstanding soloist awards. Congratulations to Mr. Tribley and our Jazz Ensemble on their first outright, contest win since 2013! 3) Winter Guard Competition (Completed) Last Sunday (Mar 12), all our Winter Guard teams competed at Batavia High School (Batavia, IL) The Varsity placed 1st in the SA class. This was their first competition at the SA level. The JV had their best performance of the year and placed 5th in their class. Congratulations to all our Winter Guard students on a job well done! 4) Warren Bands at Disney (Completed) Approximately 200 band students traveled to Orlando from March 2-6. The marching band performed down main street at Walt Disney World on Saturday, March 4th. Around 40 jazz students performed at Disney Springs' Marketplace Stage on Sunday, March 5th. Thanks to all the directors, students and chaperones who made this trip very enjoyable and successful. 5) Next Winter Guard Competition (Announcement) This Sunday (Mar 19), all our Winter Guard teams will compete at Lincoln-Way East High School (Frankfort, IL). Please visit the Winter Guard page (http://www.wthsbands.org/winter-guard.html) for more information about Sunday. Also, note the practice schedule this week is different due to this week's concerts. Please check the Guard Facebook page for times. 6) Next Marching Band Camp Dates (Announcement) Dates: July 31 until August 4, 2017 Times: 9 A - 5 P Location: O'Plaine campus.
