Greetings Warren Band Students and Parents,
Here are some updates and reminders for the week of Sep 12, 2016: Please make sure you read all items so nothing is missed. 1) Sym I Evening Rehearsal - The first Sym I evening rehearsal is tonight from 7-9 PM at the Almond band room. 2) Festival of Bands/Fill the Drum/Senior Recognition Night - This We, Sep. 14 - Students need to show up to the O'Plaine cafeteria by 5:30 PM- Students need to be on the band practice field ready to rehearse at 6 PM - Please wear/bring your white Marching Band shirt, blue Marching Band shorts, mid-height black socks, black marching shoes, white gloves, and your instruments. Volunteer Call Time: 5:30 PM (around 5 PM if you are helping with uniforms) Event Time: 7-8:30 PM Location: WTHS O’Plaine stadium Donations: Fill-the-Drum 2016 will benefit Orphans of the Storm animal shelter. We are very excited to help our furry friends. Orphans of the Storm has a list of things they can use. The drum can be filled with cash or checks (made out to Warren Band Boosters). We will also accept any of the following as requested by Orphans of the Storm: Everyday Items: newspapers, blankets/comforters, towels, dog bones, dog/cat treats, balls, cat trees, cat toys, dog/cat beds, sturdy dog/cat combs and brushes, cat litter and baking soda Foods: Orphans buys food with nutritional content specific to the needs of the animals: Pedigree (dry) - Mighty Dog canned dog food, Beneful Prepared and Ceasars Pro Plan dry kitten food Friskie's and Sheba canned cat food and Fancy Feast Mobil Gas Cards: Orphans of the Storm also drives many miles each day to take care of/rescue the animals. Gas cards from a Mobil gas station are also something that will come in very handy. Please come out to support these bands, and consider lending a helping "paw" to the dogs/cats at Orphans of the Storm. 3) Halftime Performance at WTHS Home Football Game – This Fr, Sep. 16 - Please have your child eat dinner before they arrive at O'Plaine - Students need to show up to the O'Plaine cafeteria by 5:30 PM - Students need to be on the band practice field ready to rehearse at 6 PM - Please wear/bring your white Marching Band shirt, blue Marching Band shorts, mid-height black socks, black marching shoes, white gloves, and your instruments. - While in uniform and during varsity football games, students are not allowed to have any food or drink (except water). - During home football games, students are not allowed to leave unless dismissed/excused by the directors. Please contact your director by the afternoon of the game if you need to termined by the band directors. - Any questions or conflicts with games, please contact Mr. Jenkins or your student's band director as soon as possible. Field Crew and parent volunteers - Call time is 5:30 PM for field crew. Uniform parent volunteers should try to arrive around 5 PM to assist with setting up the cafeteria. - Please reply to this email if you can serve as a chaperon on an upcoming competition bus. 4) First Competition: Chicagoland Marching Band Festival - This Sa, Sep. 17 The Marching Blue Devils will be competing during the Chicagoland Marching Band Festival at Wheeling High School on Saturday, September 17. Our performance time is 9:15 PM. HERE is the schedule for the band students and dress code. Our call time at O'Plaine is 2 PM. Band students should be in the stadium ready to rehearse promptly at 2:30 PM. Parents can expect to pick their students that evening at O'Plaine by 11:30 PM.
