Announcements/Reminders for the Week of October 23 Trivia Tournament Date: Saturday, October 28 Time: 7pm (Doors Open by 6:00pm) Location: Almond Black Box Teams of 8 will compete for Cash Prizes! SIGNUP HERE This is our large Fall Fundraiser for the Warren Band Program. Color Guard Fundraiser for General Equipment Fund Color Guard is selling Fun Pasta to raise money for equipment! Orders due October 31. Pasta Fundraiser LINK Citrus Sale Fundraiser – Student Personal Accounts Warren Band’s 40th Annual Citrus Sale! Date: October 23 to November 1 Checks Payable to: Warren Township High School Delivery Date: TBD November (specific date based on best harvest date as communicated to Warren Bands when we get closer to date) The earnings from this sale go into each individual student’s band account. Most students use these funds to pay for Band Trips. The next scheduled Band Trip is Spring 2019. Location and specific dates TBD. The annual Citrus Sale provides the best profit margin to our students amongst all band personal sale fundraisers. Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) Congratulations to the following Warren Band students on their placement into an ILMEA District 7 Bands: David Y. (12) - Band Trumpet Elizabeth C. (12) - Jazz Vibes Alex T. (12) - Band Trumpet Hannah W. (12) - Band Clarinet Sophia D. (11) - Band Clarinet Eli A. (11) - Jazz Alto Elijah G. (11) - Band Flute Zach R. (11) - Jazz Bass Bailey H. (10) - Band Bassoon Logan L. (10) - Jazz Drums Skyeleigh A. (9) - Band Trumpet ILMEA placement was achieved by audition on October 4. Students competed against students in District 7 (NE Illinois). They prepared and performed “blind” auditions. Warren Band students continue to annually demonstrate remarkable success at both the District and All-State level! Our students will be performing in the following ILMEA District 7 concerts. -Senior Band Festival - Nov 11, 2017 (3pm) - Glenbrook North High School (Northbrook) -Jazz Festival - Nov 18, 2017 (1pm) - Woodstock High School (Woodstock) Concert Uniform Fittings Date: November 13 & 14 Time: 5pm-7:30pm Location: Almond Campus Band room Volunteers are needed to help fit the students. Two 2nd Place finishes and two 1st Place finishes were received, including multiple caption awards! This year’s new model of having a Competition Band and Football Show Band proved to work well for all involved! Downers Grove South High School also recorded a video of the final competition performance: DGS Video. Thank you to all parent volunteers who helped with Parade Walking, Meal Crew, Chaperoning, Truck Crew, Uniforms, Pit Crew, and Field Crew. Thank you to the photographers and videographers too! (though your jobs may continue until the end of the school year) Warren Jazz Bands The Jazz Bands (Jazz Lab Gold, Jazz Lab Blue, Jazz Ensemble) shared their talents at the first Blue Note Jazz performances of the year, on Wednesday, October 18, in the Almond Black Box. The audience enjoyed music, food, and a relaxed atmosphere with family & friends! Join us for the next Blue Note Jazz Night on Thursday, December 7 in the Almond Black Box!
